Alfredo Pasta Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound of your favorite dried pasta
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups of 2% milk
- 3/4 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- Optional: 1/2 cup of cooked peas
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
- In the same pot over medium heat, melt the butter then add the garlic. Sauté for a few minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until it forms a paste.
- Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly until the milk starts to thicken. Make sure to scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until fully combined. Remove from heat.
- Add the cooked pasta back to the pot and toss it in the sauce until fully coated.
- Add cooked peas, if desired. Serve the Alfredo hot and enjoy!
