Pasta Bake with Melted Cheese and Tomatoes
This delicious pasta bake with melted cheese and tomatoes is the perfect family dinner. You can cook it in no time – with only 15 minutes of prep work – and you can always count on your family to love it.
Ingredients:- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1 pound small pasta shells
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes and sauté until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, salt, and pepper and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the basil and remove from the heat.
- Cook the pasta according to the package directions and drain.
- In a large bowl, combine the sauce, pasta, and half of the cheese. Stir until evenly combined.
- Spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray or oil it lightly.
- Pour the pasta mixture into the dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 15 minutes, remove the foil, and bake another 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Baked Pasta with Ricotta Cheese and Spinach
This is one of my favorite pasta bake recipes. The creamy ricotta cheese and spinach add a tasty, healthy twist to this family favorite. You can be sure that everybody will be asking for seconds.
