Creamy Sausage and Mushroom Pasta
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb. (250 g) Italian poultry sausage
- 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) olive oil
- 1/2 lb. (250 g) diced mushrooms (Button, Portobello, or Cremini)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) dried thyme leaves
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) white wine
- 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups (355 ml) heavy cream
- 2 cups (480 ml) cooked pasta (bow ties, penne, or rigatoni)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Freshly chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook it until it is golden brown, about 6 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes.
- Add the thyme and white wine and cook for another minute.
- Stir in the flour and chicken broth and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Add the heavy cream and heat it to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to a low simmer and cover it. Simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Stir in the cooked pasta and season it with salt and pepper, if desired.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
